Good morning devoted followers! How's it going? Things are good here. I guess when the nurses had their meeting with the boys it went well. We called today and the nurse that had them both said she couldn't believe how well they were doing. She said she didn't want to talk in front of them and jinx it. She had them about two and half weeks ago, and couldn't believe how much they have changed. She said that Patrick was doing well. She said his blood gases were good last night, so they had turned his vent down to 25. As of the daytime rounds, he was turned down to 20. Once he does well at 20, he goes to 15, then off to CPAP. He was saturating at 100 % on room air. Amazing.Maybe by the end of the weekend he could be on it. They also pushed his feeds up. She said Brady was doing great too. He was doing well on his feeds, and they went up higher, as did Patrick. He was on low oxygen, and did not have any issues at this time. This is great news, and I pray that it continues.
Patrick
Tonight, Patrick was doing well. He was sleeping quietly when we arrived, but then was wide awake while Craig worked on him. Craig finally got a Patrick style poop tonight. Yea, haha! He was at 20 on his vent, and his doctor tonight said that in a few days if he is doing well, he might be off of the tube, and on to the mask.. He said that he might be able to extubate him off of 20. We shall see what happens. They had the infectious disease doctor come in a few days back to discuss his antibiotics. The doctor is going to talk to him again, and see whether or not they should try for another spinal tap. If they get one, they will determine if he needs to be on antibiotics for longer than 14 days or not. They don't want to have to treat him for 21 if they don't have to, but he will make the call I guess. His feeds are up to 7.5 ml. I believe he was 1220 grams tonight. He has been going up and down a little bit, but that is normal.he keep trying to pull his tube out. They had to replace his tape again. Otherwise, he is doing well, knock on wood. His belly was an inch bigger tonight, but he didn't have a lot of poop. It was still soft, but I am nervous about it. Two days ago they took an x-ray because it was a little bigger, and they said he had a little bulge where his surgery was. No sleep for mommy and daddy again. They are going to keep an eye on it. Otherwise, he is stable, and seems to be comfortable.
Is that you mom and dad?
Getting my bp taken
Sleeping on my belly
Brady
Brady is doing okay tonight. He is getting 25 ml of food now. I was able to hold him while he ate. He gets it every three hours. He was 2 lbs and 15 ounces tonight. Getting close to three pounds. The doctor said he didn't like that he was at 29 % oxygen tonight, but he had been turned up for kangaroo time. He had been on lower amounts during the night prior to that. He is just worried about his eyes. We told him, whatever Brady needs to have to make him better do it. If he needs to go back on the mask, he needs to. It doesn't matter to us, as long as the boys are healthy. He seems to be handling it well, but we will see. He did something that made us laugh tonight. He pulled out his feeding tube. After he did it, he looks at us with this "ooops" look to his face, and covers his mouth like this picture below. We laughed so hard. He is so silly.
I did something naughty.. lol
