Good afternoon everyone! Hope everyone is having a good day. Sorry about the short post last night. I have not been sleeping well. By the time we get home from the hospital, we usually eat, pump, and then blog. It's usually around 2 am at that time, and usually we can get a little sleep in the morning. The sleeping in the morning thing has not been working out for me lately, and when I do sleep, it have nightmares, or semi-bad dreams. The night before last I had a dream I drank a 1/2 gallon of chocolate milk, and when I got to the end there was a dirty mouse in it. I was freaking out trying to get rid of the milk, and I was crying, and my mom was helping me. It was so ridiculous, but that's the stupid stuff that keeps me from getting a good nights sleep. Once in awhile I get a doozy one about the boys, but we won't even get into those, because nothing good comes from those dreams. If you see my writing random things, or write things that don't make any sense, this is why. Plus, to add to the stress, I have been having heart palpitations. I get these on occasion, and it is nothing, but it makes me feel all uneasy, so I just needed to go to bed and sleep it off. Anyway, it was a good night with the boys. Patrick was nice and calm, and Brady was wide awake checking out the world.
Patrick
Patrick likes his milk! That is all there is to it. He likes to chill out on his back, and let the milk hit him. I posted wrong information the other day. For some reason, let's call it mommy brain, I thought he was getting 1 ml of food. He was only getting .5 ml of food. However, last night, they started him on 2 mls of food. He was 1 the night before. Geez, mom, pay attention the nurses already. So, tonight he is getting his 2 mls, and he seems to be handling it well. When his nurse pulled back the belly syringe, she didn't get any food back, which means it's digesting. Fist is the air, yelling yes! His belly looked smaller last night also, which is great. He is loving his Pacifier. We are trying to give it to him as she feeds him, or after, so that he gets the sucking reflex ready. He seems to be doing well which is great. They say that is the issue that holds them back from going home in the end. They said they have to be able to suck the bottle nipple, swallow the formula, and breath. The breathing messes them up. I guess they forget to do it, and until they have multiple successful feedings, they can't go home. Hopefully because he is showing progress, that is good. They are going to keep him on the vent for a few more days, then maybe switch it up to conventional, or the CPAP. So scary. They said let's get his feeding under control before we move him to different vents and masks. I completely agree. Let's bulk him up before we tackle another hurdle. Otherwise, he seems relaxed, and quiet. he doesn't fight us as much anymore since eating. He looks like a little Buddha. He was 2 lb 3 oz last night. We were told today that he is starting to act like his brother. He complained all night until he was put on his belly!
Mom, at least take the pic after my diaper change, gross!
Stretch...good morning...
Cheese! Did a little smile!
Brady
Brady has a little eye infection, oh no! They noticed his eye was a little crusty two days back, so they sent in a culture. It came back positive. No, it was not pink eye, and no one pooped on his pillow. His nurse said that was the first thing she thought of. If you don't know what I am referencing, rent Knocked Up. They think it is from his mouth bubbles and spit. I blamed it on Craig for putting his thumb in his mouth, and then watching him slam it into his eyeball, ear, and nose holes afterward, haha. He could have done it, he could have drooled on his bed, then moved his face into it..who knows. They are treating it with eye drops. They cought it very early, so it is a little crusty here and there, and a little red, but not bad, thankfully. He is up to 6.8 ml of food. He is on formula at this time. They are saving the milk for Patrick. He needs the good stuff for his belly. They still give Brady some here and there, but since I am not producing as much, they keep the liquid gold for Patrick. We were told today that Brady pooped like a mad man. He is doing well on his mask, and only had one small episode of bradycardia, which is good. They started him on a multivitamin. I don't know why that sounds funny to me. I think of an old guy in One a Day commercials every time they say it. She said don't be surprised if some of it comes up, sometimes it is harsh on their belly. I can second that, because they tried to give me their prenatals while I was in there for my kidney infection, and they came up shortly after they went down. They were awful. I hid mine under a napkin one time. Hehehe. I took my own instead. Otherwise, he is doing okay. His weight was 2 lbs 4 oz. last night. Oh! We are officially signed up to do Kangaroo Care once a week! yeah! If he handles it well, it will stay that way, if he doesn't, then it gets taken away. As much as I love to do it, if it is going to do more harm, I understand, so we will see how it goes.
Mom, the flash the flash! Bad mommy!
Jester hat CPAP.
Sleepy time on belly
That is the news from last night. We get to kangaroo tonight, and bed changes for both boys, so you know tonight could be interesting!
Love to all!
