Morning all! I am thinking we might actually get in bed at a decent time tonight. It's 12:45 am, Craig is painting the boys room, and I am just starting this blog, and may do a little vacuuming. We will see. The boys seem to be having a decent day. They both had eye exams today. I missed the phone call from the eye doctor today. I never miss a call from the NICU, but I was cleaning today and didn't hear it. Mommy guilt afterwards. I panicked a little listening to the mesage. The doctor said "Hi, this is Dr. ... from the NICU. I did eye exams on both of your son's today. For baby 2................. we will be doing a recheck in one week, and for baby 1, a recheck in one week also. If you have any questions, you can call our office or the NICU." Yes, I have a question. What was with the 15 minute pause after you said baby 2?! Hi, let me introduce you to Patrick, and tell you about how he scares the life out of me 90% of the time. We don't hesitate when we talk about him, we just get to it. Let's remember this next time, so I don't almost have to change my pants when you leave me a message. Thanks, and bye bye. the eye exams we went okay. They said that they have underdeveloped eyes, which we knew they would have, but so does every other baby at that age. I read that babies normally don't start to see things until 3 months after they are born. That is full term. Geez, that puts them to like, January. Oh well, healthy and happy right? Right.
Patrick
Patrick is starting to look like a little boy again. What does that even mean? Well, before he started getting sick, he looked like a little boy. I actually have pictures of both him and Brady, and I can't tell really tell them apart. After he became sick, his head shrunk a little, and became a little wider. It also was slightly swollen. That means that whatever side he was on, it was flat. This resulted in, what we like to refer to as, "Gumby head." We are nice parents right? It's true though, we were a bit worried. For about a week his head was really flat in the back, and very high up. It would always go down though when they switched him to a new side, so that was okay. This week, they have been working really hard to get it all even. It is working. I took one pic of him tonight, and I see Brady a little bit. It should be interesting to see how identical they will be. He seems to be doing well on his conventional vent. No word on putting him on CPAP yet, but that is okay. His blood culture came back negative, as well as the PICC culture. The Luki culture came back positive still, but he is already on antibiotics for it, and they switched one off them to a drug that is better for it. His eye looks good, no discharge. He is back to his angry tomato face, so I know he is feeling better. He was 2 lbs 9 oz again, and he is a whole 14 1/4 inches!
Put some hair on that head, and we see the twin come out.
My belly button, and scar. Looks good.
Starting to smile
Look at that baby, I love him so much!
Brady
Brady is still holding strong on his cannula. He is doing okay on his feeds. His belly was huge tonight, so his nurse stimulated him a little to see if he would poop, and he did! She did a little bicycle move with his legs, and cheered him on. "Push it out, push it out, way out!" Haha, did I mention I love their nurses? His primary is so good with him! He was 2 lbs 10 oz. tonight, and also 14 1/4 inches. You got to give it to little Patrick, he is the same length, and pretty much the same size, and he has been sick , and not on as much food. When he gets his full health back, he is going to be a little toughie! We had a little snuggle time tonight, and he did well.
Please excuse the formula slobber stain
I'm sitting up ready for my close up
How tired do we look?
After my hair is cleaned, and with my mo hawk.
Everyone have a good night! I am off to clean some more!
Em, Craig, and the boys!
