Patrick
Patrick started on milk today! Yea buddy! His nurse said the surgeon came and checked on him today, and decided that his stomach looked okay. They started him on milk at 1 ml every three hours. He has had thee feedings so far. Hopefully he is handling it well, and digesting. He did poop today and tonight, so looks like it is moving through, which is awesome. He still looks more comfortable at this time. He did chew on his Paci a little bit tonight. He was 2 lbs 2 oz, but we are not sure if he is more. The scale was being touchy tonight.
Sleeping well tonight
I am signing him up for a headache commercial I swear
Brady
Brady is doing okay on his CPAP. They did say that he had three episodes of bradycardia, where his heart rate drops. On occasion he stops breathing, so they have to wiggle him to stimulate him. Scary right. This is common for them at first, because they aren't supposed to be breathing on their own yet. The fact that he is doing it is great. He did it once or twice tonight, but managed to get himself out of it. They did say that once they had to bag him (give him a few breaths with the ambu bag) once. Sigh, poor kid, he is trying so hard. Like I said though, this is something that happens, and they said he is doing well with it otherwise. His face is all pushed in everywhere because of the tape and straps, but we are dealing with it. It sucks, but he is moving in a good direction, so it is what it is. He was 2lb 6 oz.
Getting his flow by oxygen while changing
Big stretch! See how the straps indent his face?
I'll hold this on my face, I know it's important!
I don't know if the surgeon will check on Patrick tomorrow because it is Sunday, but they might. We might call tonight just to check on Brady again, but unless we hear something, we will hope and pray he is good. His fave nurse is back tomorrow, so he will be excited!
have a great day everyone. It's 2 am, off to pump, and then sleep!
Em and Craig
