Happy fourth to all! Hope everyone had a safe holiday! We had a nice day with Craig's parents, and sister's family. The kids had a fun time in the pool, as did Steiner. We did a little BBQ. It was a nice day, all the while with me having a 100 % mommy guilt that we were having fun, and the boys are hooked up to machines, and in a plexiglass crib. We headed over late tonight to see the babies. First off, let me say, they are doing well. However, I did not do well tonight. Mommy tends to get hot and flushed when the monitors go off more than once. I know that they are okay, and I know that the nurses are on top of it, but still, it completely stresses me out. I don't know why, it's been worse this week. Upon arrival, we saw that they were both on their stomach. They say it helps their lungs. They were both very active tonight, and they seemed uncomfortable. They were very twitchy, and trying to move around on their stomachs. This makes the machines go off more. So, hot room, twitchy babies, alarms going off = antsy, clammy mommy. Plus they were drooling and making bubbles so it looks like they are foaming at the mouth....ugh, I will not sleep tonight. Okay, lets move on, I am getting cranky just thinking about it.
Brady
Brady is on his belly. He passed Patrick on his feedings. He's getting 1 ml every 3 hours. The nurse did get some green mucous like junk from his belly, but she does not think it was breast milk, he seems to be digesting it fine. He's still on his photo therapy light. No transfusions today. He is up to his birth weight at 1 lb 9 oz. Yea! He was making a lot of movements tonight like he was annoyed, but the nurse said it was normal for preemies. He was making a lot of what I like to call "milk bubbles" with his spit. I just wanted to suction his mouth. Otherwise, he is doing well. It's funny, it makes me nervous when he is so still, but it freaks me out when they are moving around like crazy. I'm just never happy, hahaha. I prefer them quiet in there, then the machines are silent too.
Patrick
Patrick is also doing well. He is getting fed 1 ml every 6 hours. She didn't pull back any green mucous today so that's good. She did, however, pull back some blood tinged fluid from his tube. We are still not sure if it's trauma from intubation, or just from other stressed induced stuff. They did send out cultures to find out what it is, just in case they need to treat for anything. He is now 1 lb 6 oz. which is above his birth weight by 4 oz. That is the biggest he has been. Hopefully it lasts know that he's eating. His O2 was in the 20's I believe. He also was very agitated tonight. They did lower his Fentanyl again, he is at 1 now. This is why he is moving around so much too. This is the lowest he has been on sedation. We will see how he did overnight. I see them turning it back up, haha.
On a happier note, it is Craig's b-day in a few days, and the boys made him a card to celebrate.
Happy Birthday Daddy
From the boys!
That's all from the the Nicu tonight!
