Belly time

Morning to all. We were pleased to walk into the NICU tonight. Brady's Primary nurse, who we really love, and he does well with, was also Patrick's tonight! It was funny, because on the way over, I said I wished that Patrick would have her one night and maybe she could give him good karma. Wish heard. When we walked in, she said she waited for us for hands on time, and they were both ready for us! We started with Patrick tonight.
Patrick
Unlike last night, his monitors were quite calm, and his 02 was at 25%. Awesome. His nurse said, "Boy, do I have something for you to blog about tonight1" Uh oh. She said that he was so bad last night for his PICC line, not only did she have to up his Fentanyl, but they actually had to give him a drug that basically paralyzes him to make him stop moving. You have got to be kidding me... She said she had to call over another nurse, and that nurse said that he beat her up. Even Brady's nurse had to get involved in the process. She said she was ready to kill him, haha. She said she had it in like twice and he kept pulling his arm, and smacking them. She said she was sweating he had her so worked up! He is only 1 lb 8 oz, and the little man needed three nurses and a paralyzing agent to put in a cath. I don't know if I should be laughing  about it, or preparing myself for years of this tough kid and his attitude. I love that he is a fighter. He is so feisty! He is just like his mother! So, he has a PICC line, and he still has a cath in his little head. As far as we know the 72 hour culture is still negative. His belly looked a little distended tonight, so we were a bit nervous. She did measure it and it was a little bigger. She was going to keep an eye on it and let the doctor know. She was able to pull out a lot of air with the suction. The surgeon did come and pull a little bit more of the drain out today, so hopefully it is nothing. We will see tomorrow.  His oxygen was down which is good. His weight was the same, so he is not losing, knock on wood. Besides for the belly he seemed to be having a good day.

Brady

Brady was also having a good night. He looked so comfortable when we got there. He was on his belly, and he had his little leg over his bed.  He also had laid on his head so that his hair was all spiked up in front. I guess the lotion last night acted like hair gel. He looked so stylish. The echo report came back and it said that his murmur was still small. The doctor that was on tonight doesn't really talk that much, so we will find out more in the morning. As long as it's small I'm good.  His O2 was also down tonight. We did his diaper change and temp. He likes to pee, just like his brother. They soak their diapers!  His nurse said that he was being lazy and not really breathing on his own. He likes the machine to do it for him. He didn't like that, so just to be sassy, he started to breath on his own and he was bucking the machine. Breathing on his own makes the machines go crazy, so of course at one point the resp. therapist came running over to check on him. These boys were so feisty tonight! He was 1 lb 12 oz again tonight. They did start feeding him today. He is getting 1 cc of breast milk.  He had his second feeding while we were there, so I got to do it.  It basically is just me holding a syringe in the air and it flowing down. Not your normal feeding, but hey, it's normal for us, haha.
    So comfy on my belly!
Hi everyone!
Cool hairdo, front all spiked up!

That all from the NICU tonight!
Goodnight all!
Em and Craig
