So close, yet so far away

Hi there. How's it going. It's going good here. So, last night as we were pulling into the driveway, a black cat crossed in front of us. I looked at Craig, and said this can't be good. He planted himself under my car, and laid down. Oh boy. I posted that last night as my status, and everyone said it was good luck. Well, I am going to go ahead and call shenanigans on that. That cat screwed us. Why you ask? Today was eye day. Doh! I heard the NICU ring tone, and stopped and thought, dang it, it's Thursday. Lets start with the good news. Patrick's eyes look better! What? Patrick has good news? Yea Patrick! Good for you little man! He said that he sees improvement after the shot, and he is pleased with the results.  That makes me so happy! They are going to recheck him in two weeks. Brady, however, had bad news. His left eye was worse and it was time for the shot.  He said that he could do the Avastin like Patrick in the left eye. He also said that it travels through the blood stream, so it might even help the right eye, without having to actually treat the right eye. That would be phenomenal. So, they did the injection, and they said that he did well with it. they said that he did so well, that they are going to stick with the original plan of him going home this week. We will have to do eye drops for a little bit, and be super careful it doesn't get infected. He will have a recheck in a week at the doctors office. What does this all mean? It means he did not come home tonight. Sorry guys, I thought I would have better news. That's okay though, I want him to be better when he comes home. Besides that they had a good day I guess.

Patrick
Patrick looked good today. I am happy to report that he has hair again! It has finally grown back in the spots where the head catheters were. I was able to snuggle with him for an hour tonight. I am helping create a snuggle monster. I don't mean to do it, but his saturation goes up so high when I hold him. His feeds went up to 37 mls.  I was only able to get about 12 ml into him before he started to fuss. His primary had to do the rest. She managed to get all by 5 ml down. He just wasn't having it tonight. He was 2085 grams tonight. I think he lost some more weight after he ate because he gave me a wicked full diaper. The nurses were going to leave the room it was so stinky, haha. Besides that, he was pretty good tonight. His oxygen was at 30%. He went to 35 during his feeding. His nurse said he would come around soon. His lungs just aren't developed enough yet.

Brady
Brady was doing well tonight. His left eye was little slightly swollen, but it didn't look as bad as Patrick's. I didn't hold him tonight. By the time that I got over to his section, he was sound asleep, and I didn't want to wake him. I wanted him to heal. He weighed 5.6 pounds tonight. He is getting so big. He finished his bottle tonight. He had a hearing test today, and he passed. We asked how they did the test. His primary said they put earphones on, and when they hear the tone they raise their little arm. She is so sassy. I love it. He said that he passed his car seat test, but he didn't like it. She did it after he ate, so he was a bit cranky. We will see if gets home tomorrow.
                                                                                He looked so comfy
Craig had him tucked in perfectly

I am so nervous, yet so excited about Brady coming home. I feel like we know what we are doing, yet we are so clueless, haha. Thankfully, we have great nurses that have taught us what we need to know. I think Patrick is going to be better off staying there for awhile. This way we can learn what to do, and what not to do with Brady, and be better parents for Patrick, lol.  It's hard to think that Brady is so close to being home, yet Patrick is still so far. It's going to be hard to not see my little Patrick every night. We will have to switch off going to see him. The nurses actually offered to babysit Brady so that we can go together to see Patrick. Did I mention I am going to miss them? I am going to go through nurse withdrawal when we are finally done with that place. Seriously, they are the nicest people ever. They have been taking pictures with a disposable camera that we brought in. I heard they were hysterical. I can't wait to see them.

Alright then, I must be off to bed. It has taken me an hour and a half to write this. I can't stop watching Conan. This could be our last night of sleep, so I have to make it a good one. Lots to do to prepare for Brady's arrival!

Have a good day everyone!
Em, Craig, and the twinsies.
