Patrick
Last night my phone went off while I was falling asleep on the couch. It was his nurse in the NICU. It was a video of him singing happy birthday to me. I watched it, and smiled the whole time, while tearing up a little. I was quite surprised to see that he could sing, but more surprised to see that he didn't have a nasal cannula in. What? That's right, he was off of oxygen. I thought that this was just for the video, until Craig's phone went off a few hours later. it was his nurse again, sending us a new picture. Craig said he doesn't have the cannula in this picture either. We thought that this couldn't be right. I texted his nurse and asked if it was out. She said yes, it is out, and he has been doing well for a few hours now. OMG, I can't believe it. He has gone from 2 liters, to nothing in just a few days. He was doing so well. We go in today, and he is laying on his belly and "sating" at 100. Who is this Patrick, and where did he come from. I hate saying it, and even hate writing it down, but this week....let's just say I teared up tonight looking at how far he has come this week. I am so pleased with his progress, and I couldn't keep telling enough how proud I was of him. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into his pod tonight, to see his crib decorated with a big happy birthday banner for me, and a present was there too! I also saw this...
It's little ghost feet! I love it!!
His nurse had decorated his bed and made that little picture for me. His little feet are so big now, I can't believe it! She gave me a book called "Baby Steps: a little handbook for happy parenting. It has little rules in it about raising kids. Here are some of the rules in the book;
Rule #7 Some kids may take "no leak protection" as a personal challenge.
Rule #13 The only baby food that you should sample is the fruit...seriously, only the fruit.
Rule # 30 Never underestimate the power of a bribe.
It's a cute little book, and I have some reading to do, haha.
Patrick was nice and snugly in his crib tonight. He still had an oxygen mask on his tush for his rash. It looks so bad, yet better. The redness is almost gone, but both sides have a big brown like scab on them. I feel so bad for him.They gave him some super powered cream for it, let's hope it works. he was around 95-100 when we got there, and on no oxygen.
He drank about 17 mls for Craig tonight, but then finished his whole bottle for me later on. He drank very well for me. All of his cultures came back negative, so that is awesome. His head looks so good. It has a nice shape to it, and I don't feel any swelling anymore. His eyes look good, they are no longer yellow. They said that a speech therapist came by today to look at him. He needs chin and cheek support while feeding, so they wanted to evaluate him to see if they can help him, or give any suggestions. We don't know the final result on that though. Umm. I think that is it tonight. He is having a good week, so I am very pleased.
Happy Birthday!Celebrate!
So comfy.
My dad is super cool
Drinking my bottle.
Mom, pick me up!
Brady
Brady is doing well. He isn't falling asleep anymore after his bottle. He used to eat, then go right back to sleep. This is not the case anymore. Now he eats, then stays up for a while. I don't mind during the day, but the overnight feedings kind of stink now. he had his first restaurant experience today. We went out to eat, and he slept the whole time. What a good baby. I don't have a lot to say about him which it good. He is enjoying his time with grandma, and still loves his boppy.
Snuggle time with my big man

Alright kids, I hope you all have a great day!
